About me

Since when I was a child computers always arise my interest. With the advent of the first home computers (Spectrum ZX80, Commodore 16 and later Commodore 64 & Amiga, Atari ST, etc.) the passion increased and today is my job.
After computer studies at high school, I started working with Windows systems especially for support. At that time, Microsoft Windows and IBM OS/2 were battling for the operating system market leadership, but unfortunately OS/2 did not had that success which deserved. At last, bored of the infamous instability of Windows systems and tired of the same continuous repetitive fixing tasks, I decided start investing my time in something that could really widen my knowledge. So I approached to Unix systems, which I already had met in school labs: Digital VAX, Silicon Graphics e HP/UX.
At that time GNU/Linux was in the early beginning, but after having played a little bit with Minix, I started installing any Linux distribution I could find around - at that just a few. In little time I gained a very good familiarity with Linux and I identified in Debian my favorite distro. After that, I earned a great experience with IBM AIX and some with SUN Solaris.

Now I have more than 18 years of experience spent in large and small companies, as European Space Agency (ESA), Telecom Italia, Anritsu (a Japanese multinational), S3 and Movidius Ltd (the latter two are faberless companies headquartered in Dublin, Ireland). I have worked and performed missions in Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland. I held positions as Spacecraft Engineer, Unix System Administrator, System Architect, Team Leader and Data Center Manager. Commercial, sales and managerial experiences as well.

I have a natural disposition to liaison with people, eye to details and great versatility adapting to the unexpected; capacity to take relevant decision rapidly and to learn quickly. I like to conceive solutions to improve systems' efficiency and automation. I like learning new things and love to work on targets, challenging my capacities.

Because I did not had the opportunity earlier, when in 2008 I moved in Ireland I enrolled at university attending evening courses while I was working, completing all course exams in the first year and graduating the second year with the final project "SRMON", that granted me the BS of Technology in Computing at Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Because of its largeness, even now SRMON is a work in progress, almost ready to quit with the first release in SourceForge.

Still today, computers represent not only my job, but most of all my passion.
